The bootcamp that fits your life

We understand. Huge upfront payments. Massive disruption to your life. And maybe you don’t know if if coding is for you.

You don’t need to worry. Now there’s a better option. Ruby on the Beach’s innovative Cloud Camp makes bootcamp an accessible, realistic option.

let bootcamp be bootcamp

We set out to make the bootcamp really work. For you. To do that, we looked hard at what bootcamps actually do, and what they do well.

Here’s what we found: Bootcamps don’t do everything equally well. What they shine at is group work, building the projects that really prepare you for a new career or a new direction in your work, as a coder. It’s the projects that really make the bootcamp graduate who they are.

But before you can build projects, you have to learn the core skills. And in that area, bootcamps can do better. It turns out that something a bootcamp can’t offer – open ended schedules and one-on-one instructor time – is more effective than fixed schedules, limited instructor contact time and a set curriculum. As you’d expect.

So why not focus the bootcamp on what it does best?

one-on-one is number one

From the outset, our program offers up to two months of one-on-one instruction. To build core skills fast.

And you can follow that on a flexible schedule, from wherever you are. Our cloud-based collaboration environment also lets you work with other Ruby on the Beach participants. From anywhere you – or they – are.

It follows the very same bespoke curriculum we developed for our awesome original in-person bootcamp. And if you want to go further, you can expand your instructor time to cover non-curriculum topics.

In our development of the Cloud Camp, we’ve learned that as little as one hour of one-on-one remote instruction – plus practice, solo or with partners – will take you further than a typical 8-hour bootcamp day. You go further, faster, and are better prepared for the in-person bootcamp phase.

Be yourself

Here’s another thing we’ve learned: everyone has their own needs and abilities in any bootcamp. Some have coded before; others are completely new. No one program will fit everyone – but that’s exactly what typical bootcamps try to do.

Well, we aren’t typical. Neither are you.

So you learn at your own pace, and if you need less, or more one-on-one instruction time, or more project mentoring, that’s exactly what we’re set up to offer.

cost and schedule

Because your program is customized for you, costs can vary. But the basic schedule everyone starts with is around $3500 for instruction. You can do that in as few as 3 weeks, or stretch out to as many as seven.

If you learn faster than average, you may spend less time, and less money – ultimately, our pricing boils down to by the hour rates. And as you move from individual instruction to group projects, your per-hour rate actually goes down. So the program becomes more affordable over time.

And if you need more instructor time, as much as you need is available in 15 minute increments, when you need it. You’ll spend a bit more, but you’ll get the program that you need, with the focus on the things that matter to you.

What about the bootcamp?

Our traditional bootcamp, in-person and with great instructor ratios, in fantastic locations like Bali, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Thailand, is still the culmination of the program. For most students, it’s the highlight of the Ruby on the Beach experience, and one of the great experiences of their lives.
